I recently bought some Quick Cooking Bulgur Wheat at a Health Food store. I heard that it’s wonderful in soups, salads, pilaf and stuffing. Bulgur wheat is high in fiber, iron and protein. This morning I made healthy “Hearty Cocoa Wheat” hot cereal in 15 minutes. It’s tasty and great on a cool, rainy day. It’s a slightly chewy and sweet.
Here is the Recipe:
2 – Cups of cool water + Pinch of Salt
1 – Cup of Bulgur Wheat
2 Tbs. Honey or Sugar
1 Heaping spoon of Cocoa Powder (Unsweetened)
Pour the water and Bulgur wheat into a medium size pan and add a little salt. Bring to a boil. Add 2 tablespoons of honey or organic sugar and 1 heaping spoon of baking cocoa, or cacao powder. Continue to cook for 12 minutes. Enjoy with a little milk.
(I use almond milk). Makes 4 bowls.
