My Grand-Dogs absolutely love these Healthy Treats. Simple to make any time of year. Here is the recipe:
3/4 Cup applesauce
1/3 Cup vegetable oil
½ Cup purified water
1 Egg beaten
1 Tablespoon of brown sugar
2-1/2 Cups whole wheat flour
½ Cup corn meal
Slightly beat the egg, oil and applesauce in a large bowl. Add water and all dry ingredients. Mix with a big spoon until it looks like cookie dough.
On a clean-hard surface, Roll out ½ the dough to about 1/4 inch thick. then using a favorite cookie cutter, cut out the treats and place them on an ungreased baking sheet. Heat oven to 350 degrees.
Bake at 325 for 35 to 40 minutes. Turn oven off and let them set in the oven for 30 minutes to get crisp. When cool, store in an air tight container.
